Looking for a fun gift for a friend or co-worker? This Smore cookie bar recipe in a jar gift has always been a big hit whenever I have given it. I mean who wouldn’t love to receive a yummy dessert mix in a cute little mason jar?! It’s Smore’s in cookie bar form! Yum!
It’s summer – which means lots of camping for my family. And what would a camping trip be without Smore’s? I have a friend who loves camping and Smore’s as much as I do. She has a birthday coming up so I thought I would surprise here with this Smore campfire bars mix in a mason jar. I can’t wait to give it to her. I think she is going to love it.
This cookie bar recipe mix contains all the traditional components of Smore’s with a few added ingredients to make it even more rich and decadent. We like to eat it fresh out of the oven with a spoon when it is all melty and gooey, but if you have more patience than my family, you can let it cool and cut it into proper cookie bars 🙂
This mason jar dessert recipe is so easy to put together and makes a great gift for any occasion. Assembly is easy – all you have to do is layer the ingredients in a quart sized mason jar. You will want to include a tag with baking instructions.
Even with decorating the mason jar, it took less than a half hour to put together this Smores Campfire Bars recipe gift. So let’s start with the mix recipe and then I will show you how I decorated the mason jar.
Ingredients for the Smore cookie bar recipe
- 1 cup graham cracker crumbles (about 3 of the rectangles, broken into small pieces)
- 1-1/2 cup mini marshmallows
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Add the Smore’s Campfire Bars recipe mix to the mason jar
This mason jar dessert recipe fits perfectly into a quart sized mason jar. I used a wide mouth jar to make it easier to pack the ingredients into the jar and for later removal.
Start by breaking up the graham cracker rectangles. You want them about 1/2 inch in size. Be careful not to break them too small. You want chunks of graham crackers, not crumbs.
Layer the graham cracker crumbles, marshmallows, chocolate chips, oats, brown sugar, and walnuts into the mason jar, in that order. At the end you might have to pack things down a little bit so all of the walnuts will fit.
Smore’s cookie bar recipe instructions for the recipient
You will want to add a tag or recipe card to your campfire bars recipe in a jar gift so that your recipient knows how to finish the recipe and make the bars. You can include the instructions below when you give the mason jar cookie mix .
You will need 6 Tbs butter, melted.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Add the contents of the jar to a large bowl. Stir in the melted butter, mixing until everything is well coated. Transfer the mix to a 9″ square baking dish, pressing with the back of a spoon to make sure it is evenly distributed. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until melted and bubbling. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
Pretty packaging for your Smore’s Bars recipe in a jar gift
Cut a circle to cover the mason jar lid. If you have a personal die cut machine, you can use the largest circle in the Layering Circles die set to cut a perfect circle to fit in the mason jar lid. The Wood Textures Designer Series Paper has a nice rustic feel that goes great with this Smores campfire bars mix.
I used wide mouth lids for this mason jar dessert recipe gift. If you use standard mouth mason jars, you might need to adjust your circle size. If you don’t have a die cut machine, you can use the mason jar lid to trace a circle on the paper and then cut it out by hand.
Stamp the rooster from the Wood Words stamp set using Real Red ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock. Using Chocolate Chip ink, stamp the Fresh Treats image just above the rooster.
Use a scalloped circle die from the Layering Circles die set to cut out the rooster. Use Snail adhesive to stick the rooster image to the top of the wood patterned circle.
Use Stampin Dimensionals to stick the circle to the top of the mason jar lid. Add the lid and ring to the mason jar filled with the smore cookie bar mix.
Use mini glue dots to adhere 5/8″ burlap ribbon all around the side of the ring. (A glue gun should work just as well if you prefer to use one instead of the glue dots.) Overlap the ends slightly, cut off the excess, and secure with another mini glue dot.
Cut a 2 inch by 3.75 inch strip from both the wood patterned paper and crumb cake cardstock. Use the Banner Triple Punch to make a banner from both pieces. Line up both pieces and punch a hole that is centered along the top edge.
Stamp the From My Kitchen to Yours stamp from the Label Me Pretty stamp set in Real Red ink on Crumb Cake cardstock. Use the Pretty Labels punch to cut it out. Adhere the label to the wood patterned banner. Write the Smores campfire bar mix recipe instructions on the back of the Crumb Cake banner.
Cut an 18 inch length of copper trim and tie around the mason jar ring, centering on the burlap ribbon. Add the tags to the trim and then tie in a bow. Trim the extra ribbon at an angle.
And that’s all there is to this fun Smore’s Bar mason jar dessert recipe mix gift. It doesn’t take long at all to put together and will be so much fun to give to someone special.
