Looking for a unique gift to let someone know you care? Make a Hershey Kiss Bouquet full of bright and cheery flowers with chocolate centers. It would be a wonderful surprise for that special chocoholic in your life 🙂
In a hurry?
I shared with you earlier how to make Candy Kiss Roses. I decided to take it one step further and turn the flowers I made into a Hershey Kiss Flower Bouquet. The center of the roses are Hershey Kisses and the little container is filled with pink and red M&M’s to hide the flower stems.
You can use any small shaker container as the vase for your Hershey Kisses candy bouquet. The container I used is a cheese shaker. You can find them for a couple of dollars at discount stores or you might even be able to find one at your local dollar store. If you are going to be filling it with M&M’s, be sure to wash it in hot soapy water and then allow it to dry completely.
This way my Valentines Day gift for my grandmother, but it would work equally well for birthdays, Mother’s Day, and for other occasions as well. You could just change up the colors of the M&M’s and the Hershey Kisses. I think yellow would be especially pretty for this Hershey Kisses bouquet for Mother’s Day.
Supplies needed to make a Hershey Kiss Bouquet
- Glass Cheese Shaker
- Hershey Kiss Candies (the Valentine colored ones if you can find them)
- M&M Candies in Valentine colors
- Leaf Punch
- Green Cardstock
- 18 Gauge Green Floral Wire
- Wire Cutters
- Die Cut Machine
- Spiral Flower Die
- Cardstock in the color of your choice for the flowers
- Hot Glue Gun
- 1/2 inch Glue Dots
Please note that I initially made this candy kisses roses tutorial with the Stampin Up Spiral Flower die. This die has since been retired, but Sizzix makes a 3D flower die that is similar (shown above). The Sizzix die should work using the same technique since the shape is similar. This die makes 2 sizes of flowers – use the larger one. For a fuller flower, you might want to use 2 diecuts together to make Hershey Kisses roses.
Make Roses Out of Hershey Kisses
I recommend assembling your Hershey Kiss flower bouquet assembly line style. I started by preparing all my leaves, flowers, and stems. That way everything was all ready for assembling with the hot glue.
Start by making enough leaf punched shapes for each flower. My shaker had 11 holes in the lid, so I needed 11 leaves total. I used a leaf punch I already had in my collection, but really any leaf that is about 1 inch in size will work. You may already have a punch, die, Cricut cartridge, or SVG file on hand that you can use. Set the leaves aside.
The next step to make roses out of Hershey Kisses is to cut all your flower shapes in your die cut machine. The nice thing about the Sizziz Flower Spiral die is that it is a steel-rule die so you can cut more than one shape at a time.
I was able to cut 4 pieces of cardstock at one time which made quick work of it. You can get 4 spiral flowers from one sheet of 8.5 x 11 inch cardstock.
I used pink, red, and white cardstock to match the foils on the Hershey Kisses, but feel free to use whatever colors you like.
Now that you have cut your spiral shapes, you will want to roll the shape around a pen or pencil, starting with the thinner end. Roll it all up to the end base tab, then remove it from the pen, letting it unwind slightly. This will make forming the flowers easier later. Set the flowers aside.
Next we want to prepare the stems for the Hershey Kisses flowers. Cut the stem wire into 8 inch lengths. (You can always cut them shorter when you are putting them in your container if need be.) Form a small loop on the end of the wire. Bend the loop down to form a 90 degree angle. This will form the base for your roses.
Now we are ready to assemble the roses. I found it easier to do each step for all 11 roses at once. Use a dab of hot glue to attach the stem loop to the bottom of the base of the flower die cut.
Now add another small dot of hot glue to the top of the loop and attach your leaf. Set aside to cool and finish this step for your remaining spiral die cuts.
Now flip the flower over and add a 1/2 inch glue dot to the other side of the flower base. You could technically use hot glue for this step too, but I find it melts the candies slightly.
Press the Hershey Kiss into your glue dot. As you can see, we aren’t worrying about forming the flower around the kiss yet.
Now we are ready to form the flowers around the candy. I simply pushed the spiral down over the candy and then twirled it slightly until I got the flower looking like I wanted it.
To keep the shape, add a dab of hot glue to the inside of the last petal and press to the next petal layer. I found it useful to use tweezers to hold the two paper layers together until the hot glue cooled.
Assembling your Hershey Kiss Flower Bouquet
After you have assembled all your flowers, fill your container with M&M candies and then insert your roses. A bit of ribbon and a stamped tag is all you need to finish off your Hershey Kisses candy bouquet.
