These handmade Halloween Project Life Cards are just the right blend of spooky and cute! They would be perfect for your Halloween layouts this year and only require a few simple supplies to make.
Halloween will be here before we know it! Today I am sharing some simple Halloween cards for Project Life. If you are like me, you probably take a bazillion pictures during October, between fall outings to corn mazes and pumpkin patches, Halloween decorations, and trick or treating. This year, I am trying to get a head start and thought I would create some filler cards to add to my layouts after Halloween is over.
I love to browse Pinterest for ideas and then put my own spin on it. A lot of Halloween card making ideas can easily be adapted for making Project Life cards. Here are a couple that I made today. All of these ideas can be made in 15 minutes or less.
Directions to make Mummy Halloween Project Life Cards
I think this Mummy card is my fave. This was inspired by a mummy card I found at iStamp. I think he turned out so stinkin’ cute! I am a sucker for googly eyes, let me tell you!
For this one, I started with a black base card, cut with my 3×4 journal card die (from the Project Life card die set).
I then tore about 10 thin strips of off-white cardstock (about 1/2 inch wide) and inked the torn edges with brown ink. You could also use grey ink if you want but I think the brown ink gives it a sort of aged look like a mummy should have after hanging out in a sarcophagus for a few millennia 🙂 Don’t worry if the ink smudges a bit, that is kind of the effect you want.
Starting from the bottom, I stuck the strips down, overlapping slightly. Your strips will probably hang off the edge. Don’t worry about trimming anything, you will do that when you have all the strips on the card.
Close to the top of the card, you want to leave space for the eyes. After all your strips are stuck down, turn the card over and trim the excess off-white cardstock. Use permanent adhesive to stick down (2) 15 mm googly eyes and you are done!
Directions for making Project Life cards with Spider Webs
The next of my handmade Halloween Project Life cards features a little spider dangling from his web. I started with a white base. I knew I wanted to stamp spiderwebs in the background but I wanted the webs to be fairly light so that the die cut spider would be the focus.
So what I did was ink the spiderweb rubber stamp and then stamp twice on scrap paper before I stamped once on the card. I repeated the process until the card was covered, making sure to stamp some off the edges of the paper.
I then used a spider web die to cut out the main shape for the card. I cut it down so it would fit in the corner of the card and then stuck it down.
Then I used letter dies to spell out the word “EEK”. Last I used a white gel pen to accent the spiderweb and letters.
Directions to make Ghost Halloween Cards for Project Life
My last filler card features a spooky little ghost. The ghost was cut with a Sizzix die and the letters are die cuts.
I used some black and white patterned paper from my scrap pile for the base of the card. Then I cut a slightly smaller piece from orange cardstock. After I stuck the ghost die cut down, I traced another ghost shape, slightly askew from the one on the card.
Then I added letter die cuts and used my white gel pen to outline the letters.
