Hosting a grad party this year? Learn how you can make these cute graduation cap candy favors from Hershey’s Nuggets. They’re quick and easy to make with just a paper trimmer. And if you have a 1.5″ square paper punch, you can make them even faster!
My son is graduating from high school this May and I am already busy planning his grad party. It will be here before I know it. I made these graduation cap party favors for my oldest daughter’s grad party 4 years ago and they were a huge hit. So I decided to make these again to scatter on the tables. Well that’s one thing to check off my list!
It takes just minutes to make each of these candy favors You use a Hershey Nugget as the base and then add cardstock and decorations to make them look like the graduation hats. I recommend making at least two for each party guest. They went fast at my daughter’s party and were especially popular with the younger guests.

You will also need a paper trimmer, scissors, and transparent tape.
Start by cutting your black cardstock. For each favor, you will need a 1″ x 3″ strip and a 1.5″ square. Use your paper trimmer to cut the strips. You can make the squares with your paper trimmer too, but it goes much quicker if you have a 1.5″ square punch.
Next wrap the cardstock strip around a Hershey Nugget to form a band. I used tape to secure it to the candies.
For each candy favor, cut a 3 inch length of your 1/8″ ribbon. I used orange ribbon because my son’s school colors are orange and black. Use whatever color ribbon matches your school colors. Fold the ribbon in half, forming a shallow v, and use a mini glue dot to attach it to the middle of the black square.
Attach a self-adhesive rhinestone to the point of the v, pressing to secure.
Use a 1/2″ glue dot to attach the cap to the top of the candy. That’s all there is to it. I told you they were quick and easy!
