These cute silhouette Project Life Halloween themed cards will add a touch of spooky fun to your Halloween layouts.
One of the appeals of Project Life for me is that it is much quicker than traditional scrapbooking. That being said, I still love to make my own handmade Project Life cards. Even better when they are quick and easy to make! You can’t get much easier than the cards I want to share with you today. I used an orange chevron patterned paper and added black silhouette die cuts to make a few cute Halloween Project Life cards that will look great on any Halloween pocket layouts.
Although the cards I have to share with you today are for Halloween, this is easily adaptable to any theme. For example, you could use a red or green chevron background along with silhouette Christmas shapes to make cards for Christmas. I am going to be making some with brown chevron paper and leaf silhouettes to use for fall pictures.
Directions for making these Project Life Halloween themed Cards
If you have orange chevron paper on hand, making these cards will be super easy. You just need to add your black Halloween die cuts.
When I was making Project Life cards for Halloween, I discovered that I didn’t have any orange chevron paper. I had other colors, but no orange 🙁 Fortunately for me though, I have a chevron background rubber stamp that is large enough to make handmade Project Life cards.
So what I did was used my 3×4 Project Life Card die (found in this Project Life card die set) to cut out white cardstock. Then I used the chevron stamp to stamp the chevron design on the cards with orange ink.
After the chevron background was done, I raided my dies and Cricut cartridges to see what shapes I had access to that would work for Halloween. Cut your desired shapes from black cardstock and then adhere them to the chevron cards for the silhouette effect. Quick and simple!
You are only limited by the Halloween die cuts you have and your imagination. I ended up making 4 different Project Life Halloween themed cards – a Jack-o-lantern, a ghost, a spider, and a witch.
The Jack-o-lantern shape for this handmade Project Life card was made with a pumpkin die and my Sizzix Big Kick die cut machine.
The Ghost shape for this card was made with the Sizzix Ghosts #2 die. It has 2 different sized ghosts on the die and I used the smaller one.
The other two Halloween Project Life cards I made with my Cricut machine. Although I don’t have any cartridges that are solely for Halloween, I did discover a few Halloween shapes in the ones I already own.
The Spider card was made with the Doodlecharms Cricut cartridge with the size dial set at 2 inches. The Doodlecharms cartridge is a versatile cartridge to have in your library because it has shapes for all the major holidays and events throughout the year.
The Witch card was made with the Celebrate With Flourish cartridge with the size dial set at 3 inches. This is another good cartridge to add to your collection as it has a lot of holiday shapes on it and they are a bit more elegant with a lot of swirls and scrolls.
If you have the Create a Critter 2 Cricut cartridge, that also has quite a few Halloween shapes on it that you could use for making filler cards.
I really like the look of silhouette shapes with the chevron paper and will definitely be making more for other holidays.
